Going on holiday can be an exciting time. Whether you’re jetting off to a destination far, far away or you’re staying local and visiting friends and family, a holiday is a chance to relax and get away from the pressures of everyday life. However, before you set off on a holiday, you need to pack your suitcase. Below, we’ve rounded up five essentials for your summer trip.
- Toiletries
Toiletries are amongst the most important items you’ll need to pack for your holiday, so make sure you prepare a list before you get going. Remember your brush, razor, perfume, toothbrush, deodorant, soap, shampoo, towel, hair straighteners and blow dryer, and consider a separate toiletries bag to avoid your bottles from spilling into your case.
- Sun cream
Skin cancer is the most common form of cancer in the United States, so it’s essential that you pack some sun cream to avoid damage to your skin. If you only bring one thing with you on your next holiday, let it be this. Don’t buy a cheap sun cream, as the chances are that it will not protect you sufficiently, and always look for a bottle with a high SPF to protect against harmful UV rays. When you are on the beach or by the pool, remember to top up regularly, and always make sure you pair your sun cream with a hat and protective clothing.
- Appropriate clothes
This next tip will depend on where you’re headed on your summer holiday, but if you’re off somewhere warm, pack appropriate clothing for the weather. Download a weather app and check before you travel – and consider packing clothing for all weathers so that you don’t get caught short. Typically, though, you should choose shorts, sandals and t-shirts.
- Sunglasses
If you’re jetting off somewhere warm and sunny, then it makes sense to invest in a pair of luxury sunglasses to keep you protected from the sun. What’s more, sunglasses can be seen as a fashion statement, especially when you invest in a designer pair. Shop around and look online at websites like Eyeconic Society – you’ll be sure to pick up a pair that look great.
- Carrier bags
This sounds like an odd thing to pack for your holiday, but it can be incredibly useful. Pack a couple of carrier bags (leftover bags from the supermarket will do), and you’ll save yourself time and money. Whenever you visit the beach, you’ll be able to pack up your wet clothes in and bag and transport them back to your hotel without making your backpack wet. Genius!
Wherever you’re going on your summer holiday, pack sensibly and have a great time.
