Planning a wedding can be a stressful affair. With all the fittings, venue arrangements, rehearsals, and a million other things, you could be forgetting the star of the occasion –yourself.
You may have little soldiers doing the hard stuff for you but if you are the bride or the groom, you need to be on top of things. But this is not an excuse to disregard your appearance.
Sticking to a healthy lifestyle and taking care of your skin is even more important as your wedding day draws nearer. To make sure you are energetic and radiant on your big day, here are five health hacks you need to try.
1.Ditch the Junk Food
When your wedding day is drawing nearer, gaining weight is the last thing you want to happen. So, go easy on the chips and candy.
Salt present in chips and pretzels increases water retention –this will make you look bloated and puffy. On the other hand, too much sugar makes you more susceptible to breakouts.
Junk food could also drag your energy down and make you more irritable. With all the possible issues with your wedding plans, you want to stay levelheaded as much as you can.
Rather than loading up on junk, eat air-popped popcorn or go for nuts. Veggies and fruits will also be better alternatives than a bag of chips.
2. Don’t Be a Stickler to Low-Fat Diets
Low-fat diets make you look thinner but it could take a toll on your face. One doctor warns against the perils of limiting the amount of fat in your diet as it can make you look dry and gray.
Dr. Nirdosh explains your skin will not retain enough water if you are not getting good fat from your diet. Even if you are drinking enough liquids, the moisture in your skin will evaporate quickly especially when you are in a hot place.
Rather than focusing on lowering the fat in your diet, eat foods high in good fats. Avocados, walnuts, almonds, and oily fish should be on your meals.
3.Include Workouts On Your Appointment List
With several appointments in a day, you might think skipping your workout is alright. If you are running errands all day long, wouldn’t it count as exercise?
Well, it won’t. The days leading to your wedding day is an important time, and you need to stick to your routine as much as you can.
If you don’t stick to a workout, aim for doing at least 30 minutes of cardio. Anything which keeps your heart pumping and makes you sweat counts –jogging, tennis, power walking, and cycling are all considered as exercise.
Adding some weight lifting to your workout will also be a big help. Every night, do 10 press ups and 20 bicep curls. Your effort will certainly pay off during your wedding day.
4.Stay Hydrated
Your wedding is the perfect excuse to saying no to soda. It’s also a good time to go easy on booze and to choose healthier ways to quench your thirst.
Water is the best way to stay hydrated. With the back-to-back meetings in preparation for your wedding, you need even more water in your body.
Aim to drink at least two liters in a day. Carrying your water bottle would be a good way to track how much water you are drinking.
If water is too bland for your tastes, add lemon water into the mix. The citrus flavor would add a dash of flavor to water, and it’s a detoxifying drink too.
Green tea which offers tons of benefits for your liver could be another choice. Hot or cold, this beverage is better than caffeine.
5.Schedule Enough Time for Sleep
Wedding jitters make it hard to sleep days before the wedding. But if you don’t want to look like a zombie on your big day, you need to get enough sleep regularly.
Skin repair happens while you sleep. If you can’t catch enough sleep regularly, your skin won’t have time to recover from your hectic day.
Indeed, an irregular sleep cycles can wreak havoc in your skin. Insufficient sleep could make your skin look dull and prone to acne.
A breakout would be the last thing you want to see days before the wedding. So, you need to find ways to get as much sleep as you can.
Even if you have a busy day, don’t consume caffeine in the afternoon. The same goes for other stimulants which could keep you from falling asleep.
