Winter Trends

Staying stylish doesn’t always have to leave the house, particularly during the long cold festive months. Keeping warm as well as keeping up with the latest winter trends can begin at home. Here are some current trends that you can enjoy from the comfort of your own home (probably from the sofa with an abundance of chocolate).

Skincare

With the arrival of winter and the plummeting of hot temperatures, the cold weather can really impact our skin causing implications such as dryness, breakouts and redness.  If you are someone that suffers from dryness as a result of the winter weather, investing in a good moisturiser is essential. Try using the Neutrogena Hydro Boost Gel Cream. This is a super hydrating formula designed to work non-stop for 72 hours, so you can get immediate and long-term impact. As this moisturiser is a gel consistency, it is light-weight and quickly absorbed meaning it doesn’t allow your makeup to slide like a lot of heavy moisturisers tend to. It is also non-greasy so there is no need to worry about shine.
The sheet mask became one of 2018s biggest beauty trends with celebrities such as Lady Gaga and Bella Hadid supporting the masked look on their Instagram. If your skin is needing some extra TLC this winter, then a face mask is the ultimate way to do so. It also something fun to do with your friends on a festive girlie night in.  A brand that has been particularly popular this year thanks to being social media savvy, is GlamGlow who offer a range of masks to suit all skin types.

Hot Drinks

Snuggling down with a nice hot drink is the perfect way to take your mind off the dreary weather and this year the innovative creations of hot drinks are a gift that keep on giving.
Gingerbread latte- this is a particularly popular choice this winter as it takes the local coffee shops by storm. Even Nescafe has cottoned onto this trend bringing out their own festive take on the drink meaning you can skip the trip to Starbucks this winter enjoy it from the comfort of your own home! All you need to do is add boiling water to your favourite mug. This is the perfect festive drink for a cosy night in with your favourite box of choccys.
Mint Hot Choc – Once you have tried this rich, soothing chocolaty drink, you’ll never reach for an instant hot chocolate again. You can make this mug of deliciousness using melted chocolate, milk, a dash of cream and a touch of peppermint. For an extra naughty but nice treat, add a dollop of whipped cream on top.

Sleepwear

You may not think it but sleeping trends are actually a thing. And let’s face it, everyone is a sucker for a cute pyjama set. Now, creating a fashion statement out of your night time routine is an up and coming trend you shouldn’t miss! Especially when it comes to the winter season of festive patterns and cosy styles. Womens sleepwear is a forever expanding category that is increasingly being payed attention to in the world of fashion making a debut on the 2018 runways.  Fashion icons like the Hadid sisters and Kardashians have now been spotted sporting this look in a variety of ways along with many other celebs. ASOS now brings a choice of over 700 sleepwear styles to choose from so you most certainly won’t be stuck for choice this Winter. A particularly popular trend is the traditional matching shirt and trouser set in an array of different colours and patterns. These look super cute tucked into a pair of boot slippers.

Netflix & Chill

There’s no denying, we all love a gripping Netflix original that makes us want to do absolutely nothing else apart from sit in front of the TV. One series that has got everyone talking this winter is the remaking of Shirley Jackson’s legendary novel, The Haunting of Hill House. This follows the story of siblings who grew up in what would go on to be the most famous haunted house in the country. Years on, by fault of tragedy, they are back together and forced to face the ghosts of their past. The series embodies a terrifying psychological horror about family dysfunction, enough to make the hairs on your neck stand on end.

If being spooked isn’t your cup of tea this winter, then don’t worry because Netflix have added a whole load of Christmas films that will have you feeling festive in no time. Favourites this Christmas are; The Holiday, Deck the Halls, Arthur Christmas, Miracle On 34th Street. If you want a proper laugh, then try The Royal Family Christmas special for true festive fun.

Microwavable Slippers

There is nothing worse than having cold toes, particularly when you’re at home with the heating on full blast. Sure, slippers are practical, but they don’t always do the job. If you’re someone that always has cold feet no matter how many layers you have on, then you have to try these microwavable slippers. The slippers come in the style of a boot, made out of a cosy faux fur material that hugs your feet keeping them toasty and warm.

The Slanket

The slanket, also known as the sleeveless blanket, has revolutionised the blanket industry. It is made of super soft and snuggly material that is sure to keep you warm during the long, cold winter months. What makes this blanket extra special is that the sleeves allow you to move around without exposing your body to the cold, perfect for cosying down on the sofa to your favourite Christmas film.
